Very OT, mobile phone question?

Not much of a phone user due to having no reception here. But in recent
times so many banks etc want to confirm who you our on a mobile I
eventually bought one which I can use over the house wifi.

We were recently informed by 3 who we use that they were discontinuing
3G so I thought I had better check and according to the Samsung website
my particular model is 4G ready However if I go to settings and look
under Mobile network Mode it says LTE/3G/2G no mention of 4G same for a
tablet we have with a sim card fitted yet both seem to still be working
can anyone explain to this simple soul what the deal is please?

I might add the Tablet despite not mentioning 4G in settings actually
puts the 4G on the top bar by the bar indicator for phone signal strength!
