I need to temporarily fence off some areas of the garden, say 5m x 4m, so I
can get some plants established. The main reason is to stop the neighbourhood
cats using the planting areas as a toilet.

Any recommendations? Barrier mesh fencing and 1.25m fencing pins - available
at BQ etc. I don't want to go too high - hoping 1m will be enough of a
deterrent.

50 cm would be an adequate deterrent. Cats often jump onto things,
but rarely jump over things. I don't know why. In case you have
exceptional cats, going to 1.25 m would make sense.

It's because they want to be able to *see* where they're going to land.
They're much more cautious than dogs.
